Vick To The Eagles

Vick is now in Green

Vick is now in Green

By Ben Linton

Mark my words, this will be the last Michael Vick post on All Metro Sports World. Today Vick signed a two-year deal with the Philidelphia Eagles to end his long search for a team. He will now join Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb as Eagles’ Quarterbacks.

Am I happy to see Michael Vick back in the NFL? Yes. But on a rival team in the division? Ehh. I don’t really understand the Eagles’ motive for signing Vick, because personally I think McNabb is the best quarterback in the NFC East. Its not like hes inept at scrambling either, which is Vick’s forte. But come to think of it, Philly fans have been trying to get McNabb out of there for a while now.

This certainly will add an element to Philidelphia’s offense. Vick is no doubt a playmaker, but also a bonehead. You got to take the good with the bad with this guy. Hopefully Vick can stay out of trouble and resurrect his career, just don’t beat the Redskins.

Ravens Interested in Vick??

vick ravens

By Jesse Jones

Sorry guys but here’s another Mike Vick post.  While I was watching ESPN First Take today, they said that Baltimore was rumored to be interested in Vick.  I really want to see Vick get a second chance in the NFL, but I do not really see where he would fit in with the Ravens.  It has become well-known that the team has invested in Flacco as their starting QB, and Troy Smith is being used as the Wildcat QB.  Ofcourse Vick is an upgrade from Troy Smith, but Cam Cameron, offensive corrdinator, has already made a section in the playbook for Troy Smith called the Suggs Package (Suggs criticized the team for not using Troy Smith enough).

Even though I really want to see Vick play again in the NFL and prove all the doubters wrong, I just do not think that Baltimore is the right fit.

Vick and Shanahan in Washington in 2010?

By Ben Linton

We all know about Dan Snyder and his crazy antics. His hunger to sign the big-name players and big-time coaches, even if they are way past their prime, is very apparent. So what would be bigger than having Michael Vick in the Burgundy and Gold? As a Redskins fan, I would not approve of this, but have come to except these sort of things with Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerato holding the cards.

What are the odds?

What are the odds?

We all know about Vick’s history, as a person and as a player, which strikes up huge controversy. That’s Dan Snyder’s kind of guy though. Why have the quiet and soft-spoken Jason Campbell when you can have one of the most hated players in the NFL world? It almost seems as if every year, Snyder says, “Nobody is talking about the Redskins this year. Maybe I better go sign somebody so they start talking about us again.” It seems as if he does these things just to get his name out there.

It has also been rumored that the Redskins might have interest in acquiring Mike Shanahan next year if things don’t go as planned with Jim Zorn. Yet again, Shanahan has the bigger name, the ring, and will get the bigger paycheck. Trust me, I think I have finally discovered what’s floating around in Daniel Snyder’s head. Expect the unexpected. The unpredictable is predictable. If the Redskins don’t make the playoffs this upcoming season, there will be a new coach and a new quarterback in D.C. That’s just the way it is around here.

Time For Some Controversy!!!

vick

By Jesse Jones

Now, I know many people feel that Michael Vick should not be allowed back into the NFL, but I am not one of those.  What he did was terrible, but he payed his debt (which was way more than Stallworth who killed somebody while drunk and high) and has not said anything or done anything to make his situation worse.  Now, if Vick were to play, here is a team that I think could use him that is not the Patriots (they’re rumored to be interested in Vick).

The San Francisco 49ers.  Now I know that they have already denied interest in Vick, but who knows which teams will actually pursue him if he is reinstated by Roger Goodell.  The 49ers are on the brink of winning the lackluster NFC West.  They finished second in the NFC West behind the Cardinals with a 7-9 record, and a 3-3 Divisional Record.  Mike Singletary was clearly the right move to head coach, even with his crazy antics.  The defense is solid, with players like Patrick Willis, Takeo Spikes, Dre’ Bly, and Nate Clements.  On offense, the team has Shaun Hill from UMD as quarterback, Vernon Davis from UMD at TE, Frank Gore and DeShaun Foster at RB, Isaac Bruce and newly drafted Michael Crabtree at WR.

So where does Vick fit into all this?  I’m pretty confident that no team is going to take Vick back in his first season back from all the drama, so a back-up roll is key to look at.  Shaun Hill, who is the probable starter, is more of a pocket-passer.  Vick, as we all know, is a scrambler, one of the best the game has ever had.  With the new found love for the Wildcat offense, Vick could possibly be the best fit for that, with any team.  Vick could put the 49ers over the hump and back into the playoffs, where it was so common to see them for many years.

If the 49ers do not acquire Vick, I think they will finish second again, behind the Seahawks, who will have a healthy roster and T.J. Housmandzadeh, unlike last year.  Ben thinks that the 49ers will win the division either way.  Let us know what you think!
