Mishap in Canada

By Jesse Jones

Thursday, Baltimore Orioles’ outfielder Adam Jones was detained by immigration officials in Toronto shortly after landing.  Officials believed that Jones had a criminal record, and according to Canadian authorities, and players with a past criminal record may be detained and not allowed to enter Canada, resulting in a player missing games.

Jones was released around 5 AM, and has been allowed to play in this weekend’s series against Toronto, including last night’s 5-0 loss.  Canadian officials mistook him for somebody else, which is understandable as there are many “Adam Jones” in the world.

One other Oriole player was detained as well, but Jones did not say who.

Adam Jones wins Gold Glove

By Ben Linton

Baltimore Orioles’ center fielder Adam Jones has won the Gold Glove Award for most outstanding fielder at his position. Jones was Baltimore’s lone All-Star, batting .277 with 19 home runs and 70 RBI in 2009 before going on the Disabled List in September. Jones was known for his great fielding; He had many diving catches and threw out many runners this season. Jones had 349 outs in 363 chances, and only made five errors in 2009. He certainly deserved this award; Hopefully he can build on this success for years to come.

Three Little Birds

By Ben Linton

I found a great article on ESPN.com about the Baltimore Orioles amazing outfielders. It basically talks about Adam Jones, Nick Markakis, and Nolan Reimold and how they all have bright futures. Now if we can just get some pitching around them, that would be something special. Check it out if you’re an Orioles fan and want to read about the bright future of the team.
