Washington Redskins 2010 Schedule Released

By Ben Linton

With the a new coach and new quarterback in D.C., it should be an interesting year for the Washington Redskins in 2010. To me, it seems as if the Redskins could be very good or very bad, depending on how these new changes affect the team. It is never easy playing in the NFC East, so the Skins will need to be ready for a bunch of tough and competative games. The 2010 Schedule includes six east games against the NFC East opponents, with an opener against Dallas on Sunday Night Football. Donovan McNabb will see a rematch with his former team when he goes back to Philly in Week 4, and the Redskins play their only Monday Night game when they take on the Eagles at FedEx Field on Week 10.

The Redskins also will play the AFC South, which is highlighted by a Sunday Nighter against Indianapolis and Peyton Manning in Week 6. The rest of the schedule is filled by the NFC North, Tampa Bay Bucs (4th place in NFC South), and St. Louis Rams (4th place NFC West). Here is the full schedule:

1 Sun Sep 12th Dallas 8:20 NBC

2 Sun Sep 19th Houston 4:15

3 Sun Sep 26th @ St. Louis 4:05

4 Sun Oct 3 @ Philadelphia 4:15

5 Sun Oct 10 Green Bay 1:00

6 Sun Oct 17 Indianapolis 8:20 NBC

7 Sun Oct 24 @ Chicago 1:00

8 Sun Oct 31 @ Detroit 1:00

10 Mon Nov 15 Philadelphia  8:30 ESPN

11 Sun Nov 21 @ Tennessee  1:00

12 Sun Nov 28 Minnesota 1:00

13 Sun Dec 5 @ NY Giants 1:00

14 Sun Dec 12 Tampa Bay 1:00

15 Sun Dec 19 @ Dallas 1:00

16 Sun Dec 26 @ Jacksonville 1:00

17 Sun Jan 2 NY Giants 1:00

For a team that finished 4-12 last season and was last place in the NFC East, this is a pretty tough schedule. 7 of the 16 games will be against teams that made the playoffs, and eleven are against teams that had a .500 record or better. One other thing is that the Redskins play some easy games, but they are all on the road (Chicago, Detroit, St.Louis), which is never a guaranteed victory in the NFL.  They also have a couple brutal stretches weeks 4-6 and 10-13 where it may be hard to even win one game. The Redskins better be ready to play right from the beginning, because in previous years they have struggled out of the gates. With an opening opponent like Dallas, maybe these players can get some motivation to come out swinging.

Once again this has me buzzing with excitement for the next NFL season to begin.
