Ravens Get Boldin

By Jesse Jones

One year after failed attempts, and a decade of waiting, Baltimore now has it’s star receiver.  Anquan Boldin was traded to the Ravens from the Arizona Cardinals, along with this year’s fifth round draft pick for the Ravens’ third and fourth round picks in this year’s draft.  Along with the trade, Boldin and the Ravens agreed on a three year contract extension.

This trade brings the offense a pro bowl caliber receiver to go along with Donte’ Stallworth.  Stallworth can stretch the field vertically, and Boldin can do just about everything else.

Boldin is very excited to join the team: “I’m definitely excited. For me, I’ve been hoping for this for a year since I first heard that the Ravens might be interested in me. I even talked with Ray [Lewis] about it a year ago. I really look at this as a great opportunity for me. They love football in Baltimore. I know that from when the Cardinals played there a few years ago. That place was loud, very impressive by the fans. The Ravens play a certain way. They play as hard and as physical as any team in the league, and I want to add to that. I think I play the way they play.” (

It seems now that the Ravens prime focus on offense would be to bring back Derrick Mason.  Mason is a fan favorite here in Baltimore, and has been one of the most dependable players over the past few years.  If the team brings Mason back to be the team’s number two receiver, look for an extremely explosive offense for the first time ever in Baltimore.
