Caps Add Aggressiveness With Veteran Signing

By Jesse Jones

The Washington Capitals added veteran winger Mike Knuble Wednesday to replace Victor Kozlov, who left the team to play in Russia.  Knuble signed a two year $5.6 million deal with the Caps, saying that “I think the team is on the verge of something good, something great.”

Knuble brings toughness and will to the team, in addition with above average stats: 27 Goals and 20 Assists last year with the Flyers.  Over his career Knuble has been able to put up consistent numbers, averaging 27 goals in the past six seasons. Kozlov only scored 13 goals for the Caps last year.  This boost in points will be featured on the same line as Backstrom and the now two-time MVP, Alex Ovechkin.

Some might remember Knuble from the Flyers v. Caps playoff series two years ago.  In Game 4, Knuble scored the game-winning goal for the Flyers to end the double-overtime match and give the Flyers a 3-1 series lead, eventually winning the series in seven.

Now, Caps fans will be hoping he can do the same for them, on their quest for a Stanley Cup.
